For years at the end of the competition season we come together to sell our amazing 3D prints as well as provide children and adults the opportunity to drive the robot. This also gives the community the opportunity to learn about First Tech Challenge. All money earned from the farmers market goes to our team to help us with are next season.
Once a year the Peoria Civic Center hosts an event called Peoria Con. Peoria Con is a big convention filled with vendors, cosplayers, and more. During Peoria con we sell 3-D prints and give kids the chance to drive are robot. At the event our team invites another robotics team to come and join us.
Ignite is a fun interactive event that also happens at the Peoria Civic Center. Not only is our team there but a few other ones as well, including HOW, Fast But Not Furious, and Trailblazers. Together we set up a field and teach kids how to drive our robots as well as provide information on how we brought the robot to life. We also sell 3-D prints here which goes to funding our team.
The library gives us the opportunity to host Robot Invasion once a year where children get to learn and interact with all kinds of machines including our robot. We give children the opportunity to drive our robots and participate in various activities that we have set up around the library, including a scavenger hunt, and CAD/Programming classes.
This is another library event we take part in called "Star Wars Day." During Star Wars Day, children run around having fun with their little lightsabers that they have created while be able to interact with different activities. We also provide children the chance to drive our robots during this event, allowing the kids the opportunity to know what its like driving a robot. We also had a puzzle for the children to solve.
During the summer the Ergonomic Partners allowed us to visit their work shop. They allowed us to interact with their machines as well as program one of their robots. We even had the opportunity to learn how their robots work. It was a very fun and educational day.
The EP Robo Raiders were a proud sponsor of the final race of the 2024 season for the KID MOD division at the Peoria Speedway. The KID MOD division is for kids 8-15 years old. We felt this was a good way to show our interest in other youth activities in the area.
Engineering Day was a event held at the Peoria Riverfront Museum to promote STEM. Our goal was to promote FIRST and FTC by presenting our robots and educating the younger generation about FIRST and the activities we participate in. We had other teams there as well to help leave a good influence and teach children teamwork skills.
During the summer a girl scout team reached out to us searching for knowledge about the engineering world of robotics. We accepted and came up with different activities they could partake in that gave them a hands on experience. They got to build, design, drive and create parts of a website. This allowed the girl scouts to learn about FTC and more about the engineering world. Many of the girl scouts came back a second time because they enjoyed it so much and found robotics interesting.
During the 4H Demo we demonstrated what it was like during robotic competitions by showing them how the robot interacts with the game elements with a short amount of time. Afterwards the children had the opportunity to drive the robot and experiment with the different game elements. We taught visitors about the time and effort required to make a robot as well as how they could get more involved in FTC.
New Life Christian Church reached out to our team wanting to discover different activities for their youth group. We accepted the opportunity that was given to us and were able to teach about robotics and FIRST. We allowed the children to be able to experience driving our robot along with teaching about our robot's components.
